Editor’s Monthly Column: Alonso gone, Ronaldo gone, is the Prem next to go?

Hello 247football readers and visitors!

Welcome to my monthly editorial column. This month I am bringing up a topic I’m sure you will all find interesting. As a keen football supporter, I’m dissappointed to see Xabi Alonso and Cristiano Ronaldo leave the Premier League.

My thought is quite simple, IS THE PREMIERSHIP LOSING OUT TO LA LIGA AND THE MONEYBAGS OF MADRID?

With the top players all demanding moves to Spain – especially Madrid – isn’t it just ruining the Premier League? We’ve lost two major players and United and Chelsea have lost out to signings because they’ve opted for the Madrid-Revolution.

I want YOUR views on why the Prem is losing it, or is it not losing it? Comment now!

Lescott move wouldn’t be major downer for Blues

As a keen Everton supporter, I write in a positive and relaxed mood over the possible sale of much-loved Everton player Joleon Lescott, amid reports he will move to Manchester City.

The English Centre Back could well leave after reports he will hand in a transfer request. And with two bids already rejected by Everton, it seems Everton are bracing themselves for a third bid from moneybags Manchester City.

In my honest opinion, I believe Lescott leaving us would be nothing short of gutting for the club, but almost certainly not a major ‘downer’.

Raking in cash of around £25m, getting £30k a week off the wage bill, and selling a player who’s heart seems elswhere is something I would say is a good thing for any club. Would you agree?

This is the situation Everton are in. The situation we are believing at the moment anyway..

I believe without Lescott the club will be fine. Of course, he’s a talented player, but no club should keep a player that wants to leave.

In conclusion, I hope Lescott does stay, but if he wants to leave, Get some cash in and get rid!!

Ancelotti confident Terry will stay

New Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti expects John Terry to stay at the club.

Terry has been subject of interest from Manchester City recently who are reported to have offered the England captain wages of £200k a week.

However, new Chelsea man Ancelotti, says Terry should be going nowhere.

This message has come out from Chelsea, yet the saga could still be on-going. Who knows if City came in with a huge offer..

Owen scores on United debut

Everybody who doubted the signing of Michael Owen were silenced today after he netted in the 84th minute on his Manchester United debut.

Owen slotted home againt Malaysia XI in Kuala Lumpur after coming on as a second half substitute.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was delighted with Owen’s contribution.

“He’s different from our other players, he’s always searching for space, he’s always in and around the box. He reacted well for his goal,” he stated.

Michael Owen is a great player on his day and he will be a success at United once he fits in. He has a good track record and he could yet be one of the best, if not the best, signing of the summer. Watch out football fans, Owen may should shock you this season!

Adebayor completes switch to Eastlands

Manchester City have finally signed Emmanuel Adebayor from Arsenal for a deal thought to be around £25m.

The 25 year old is ready to join Roque Santa Cruz, Gareth Barry and Carlos Tevez at Eastlands, who have all already signed this summer.

Adebayor was also linked with a move to AC Milan and Chelsea.

The deal brings Man City’s summer spending upto £80m – and don’t expect it too stop here. They’ve already lodged a bid for Everton centre-back Joleon Lescott, which was later rejected.

24-7 Football’s comment:
Most people will presume he has signed only for the cash, but I can assure you, your probably right! Plenty of talent at his feet but he was too ahead of himself when he demanded the same wages as Thierry Henry. A good capture football-wise for City, but is he too lazy and demanding? We shall wait and see. I put him in the same category as Didier Drogba. On a good day, hes world-class. But on a bad day, oh dear..
